Dr. Kiran Jabeen

With 10+ years of clinical experience as OB GYN specialist and 4+ years of medical teaching; Dr Kiran Jabeen is one of the most talented and versatile Obstetricians and Gynaecologists from Rawalpindi in Pakistan. She completed MBBS from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore in 2010 and the coveted Fellowship of the College of Physicians & Surgeons (FCPS), Pakistan in 2017.
She is currently working as a OB GYN specialist at Medicare Hospital, Rawalpindi. She is expert in all gynaecological surgeries including abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies and laparotomies for adnexal masses.
She started her professional career as a house officer, in the Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi in 2010-2011 period. Her duties included neonatal assessment and resuscitation, monitoring and supervising management of common low risk early neonatal ailments, assisting vaginal and caesarean deliveries, pre and post-operative monitoring of operative deliveries, Partogram maintenance of patients in labour.
She later joined Ali Medical Centre, Rawalpindi (2011-2012) as a medical officer for the labour room, wherein she has monitored latent and active phases of labour. She has assisted spontaneous and operative vaginal deliveries, elective and emergency caesarean sections besides routine OB GYN clinical of OP and IP.
During her five-years-long tenure from 2012-2016 as a postgraduate trainee at the Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi; Dr Kiran performed various minor surgeries and assisted in hysterectomy, myomectomy and laparoscopy. From 2016 to 2018, she was the Senior medical officer at Medicare hospital, Rawalpindi.
As the OB GYN Senior Registrar at Al Shifa International Hospital (JCIA Accredited) from 2018-2020, she has supervised gynaecological residents and intermediate members of the team, managing both academic and clinical activities. Performing frequent spontaneous and assisted operative deliveries with intrapartum and postpartum monitoring, caesarean sections, management of obstetrical emergencies and procedures like cervical cytology, and endometrial biopsy of the clinics.
In her current position as OB GYN Specialist, she trains and supervises residents and interns, manages obstetrical emergencies besides independently performing gynaecologic surgeries including and not limited to cervical polypectomy, D&C, marsupialization of Bartholin’s cyst, etc.
She also independently manages childbirths including spontaneous and operative vaginal deliveries, planned and emergency caesarean sections, repair of perineal, vaginal, cervical and anal sphincter tears, frequent performance of cervical cytology and office endometrial sampling procedures, besides managing all the documentation and performance of medical staff in the OB GYN department.
She has attended a number of workshops and participated in national and international conferences. Her international research collaboration includes the study of the effect of early tranexamic acid administration on mortality, hysterectomy, and other morbidities in women with post-partum haemorrhage (woman), which is an international, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial and the study of the frequency and management of maternal infections in health facilities in 52 countries (GLOSS).
